Debbie & Madison

Animal Health Technologist

Deb graduated as a Registered Nurse after completing the VGH School of Nursing Program in 1979. She completed her specialty training for Neonatal Intensive Care following graduation and worked at the Vancouver General Hospital and Lions Gate Hospital ICN Nurseries until 1985, when she took a leave from nursing full time to raise her two beautiful children.

Once her son and daughter were both in school, Deb provided voluntary support to families of/and children with ADHD as the co-coordinator of a parent support group in the Tri-Cites.

In 1999 she began working as a veterinary receptionist part-time and realised that her training and experience as a nurse could be applied to caring for animals. She quickly progressed to a full-time position as a veterinary assistant and then an animal health technician. Four years later, she accepted a Head Technician/Management position supervising and supporting three hospitals. After seven years, she took a two-year hiatus indulging her passion for art and design returning to the Animal Health field in 2012. A caregiver for as long as she can remember, Deb has found a rewarding career and companionship with animals. She is a proud “doggy mom” to her miniature Australian Shepherd “Maddy” and her two grand-doggies “Cash” and “Rowan”. Her enthusiasm and experience are a welcome addition to our care team.
